  • Seniors who missed the College Application Process presentation that was given during Government classes because you were absent or are taking Government online, please check your emails for a link to sign up for a make-up session. Please sign up by this Friday, September 13th at the latest.
  • September is Suicide Prevention Month. We all can make a difference in raising awareness and sharing resources. Help support a fellow Roanoke County student in creating mental health care packages by donating needed items, including paperback books, sensory items, and hard candies. Drop off donated items and see a full list of items needed in the Guidance Office. Join fellow students teachers across Roanoke County at the Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention. The walk will be held at Roanoke College on October 5th at 10 am. For more information see Mrs. Pomeroy in the Guidance Office.
  • Sophomore council and interested sophomores: Come to Mrs. Taylor's room 129 tomorrow morning (September 13th) at 7:50 am to work on Homecoming preparations.

CLUBS

  • Terrier TV will have its next meeting on Thursday, Sept. 12th at 3:30 pm in the Library. Come join the Terrier TV staff and get ready for a fun year of segments and Friday morning announcements.
  • There will be a Future Business Leaders of America - FBLA interest meeting on Thursday, September 12th come by either before or after school to Mrs. Atkin's room 250.
  • Interested in bird watching? The new Byrd Birders Club will have interest meetings in Mrs. Sullivan's room on Thursday, September 12th. Come to room 247 either before school or right after school on either day. Hope to see you there!
  • Would you like to help with this year's Literary and Arts magazine? Join Sketches! Our first meeting will be after school on Thursday, September 12th in room 271. See Mrs. Nichols with questions.
  • Join the International Club for Korean Language classes every Saturday from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm in the WBHS Library. Come learn the language and culture of South Korea. See Mrs. Farrington in the library if you have any questions.
  • Hello Leos! Please pay your $7 dues to Mrs. Stover or Mr. Robers in room 265 before or after school. You can also pay on SchoolCash online. If you are a new Leo, you can get an application in an envelope outside room 265. All dues and applications should be turned in by Tuesday, September 17th.
  • Come join Prism! Their first meeting will be Wednesday, Sept. 18th after school in room 271. See Mrs. Nichols with any questions. 
  • Byrd Buddies will have their first meeting on September 19th from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm to collect $10.00 club fees and please bring a bag of candy! The meeting will be held in room 163. Hope to see you there! 

HOMECOMING

  • Hey, Terriers! Homecoming is right around the corner and we've got some fun things for you. All students bringing guests that DO NOT attend WBHS can pick up the Guest Approval Form in the front office, outside the library, or the Canvas WBHS Terrier Times for a digital copy you can send to your guest via email. Forms are due to Mrs. Farrington in the Library by Thursday, September 19th.
  • Any student planning to attend the dance, please make sure that you have paid your class dues. You will not be allowed to purchase a ticket for the dance until class dues have been paid. Please see Mrs. Conner in the front office to check whether you have paid your dues.
  • Homecoming tickets go on sale starting Wednesday, September 11th during all lunches until Friday, September 20thTickets are $30.00 per person payable by cash or check only. Make checks payable to WBHS. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door the night of the event, so be sure to buy your tickets as soon as possible. If you do not have lunch in the building, please see Mrs. Farrington in the Library.
  • Hey Terriers! Thursday, September 19th will be our Powderpuff Football game at 7 pm in the stadium! Come out and cheer on your senior and junior girls. Tickets are $5 and sports passes are not accepted. 
  • Homecoming is NEXT weekend which means Spirit Week is next week! Here are the dress up days for next week: 
    • Monday - Pajama Day
    • Tuesday - Hawaiian day
    • Wednesday - White Lies Wednesday
    • Thursday - Class Colors Day
      • Seniors wear white
      • Juniors wear black
      • Sophomores wear maroon
      • Freshmen wear orange.
    • Be sure to dress up and show your school spirit!

  • Attention all seniors interested in the Virginia Tech Onsite Early Action admission program. This program is open any seniors a 3.5 GPA or higher and allows for an earlier application review and decision. If you are applying for this program you need to see your school counselor so that they can add your name to the list, or you can email them to let them know you are applying. We strongly recommend that you submit your completed application through Common App by October 1st so that you have time to complete and submit the second part of the application, the SRAR, by the October 7th deadline.
  • Attention all 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students! We will have representatives from the military here on Tuesday, October 1st to give the ASVAB Test. This is a career exploration test to show you what future paths may be good for you. Representatives from the military will reach out to you after the test to discuss your results but you are not required to join the military. If you are interested in the military, it is highly suggested to take the test. Please see Mrs. Boothe in the College and Career Center in Guidance to sign our interest list by Friday, September 20th.
  • Attention 10th and 11th graders: The PSAT will be given at WBHS on October 26th. The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT, which some colleges require for admittance. The payment of $40 can be made to the bookkeeper in the front office from September 9th through October 4th. After payment is made, you must take your receipt to Ms. Lohr in the Counseling Office for registration. Students will need to be at WBHS by 7:45 AM for the test on October 26th with your school-issued computers.
